I swear I'll try not to make this as awkward as it is playing out in my head.
Dear (my) class of 2017,
Where in the world do I even begin.
There aren't enough words to describe you guys.
You guys are intelligent, nerdy, hilarious and everything in between.
You guys get me up in the morning. (Trust me school would be as boring as watching clouds pass in a clear sky without you guys)
Yes, we don't all get along sometimes but that's okay. We are only human after all.
But the difference between our class and being intermingled in any other class (of the 8th grade of course) is that we help each other back up and we know how to support each other. Whether it's in discussion or in outside problems.
I'll miss our heated debates, and intelligent conversations.
I'll miss our inside jokes and random sayings. (J.K...... Rowling)
I'll even miss the fact that we are in the same class together.
I'll miss all my teachers and their encouragements.
They will forever have a special place in my heart.
I thought that I would be happy that school is ending and that we get to start fresh, but I'm not.
Realizing that next year we will be split up and have the smallest possible moments of interaction is terrifying. (Who knows what dumb things the other students are going to say next year.)
I am worried that the level of conversations in high school is going to feel like I'm talking to cavemen that wear headphones.
But maybe, just maybe I will have some of you in my classes next year. (Please dear lord)
Not to make this a sad topic or anything, but I just want to say I'm going to miss you guys.
How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard- Pooh bear
Best of luck to all of you in high school.

The Art of Procrastination
The Art of Procrastination. Easy to master, hard to beat. Now there are different ranges of procrastinators. The couple-minutes (which only procrastinate for a few minutes and then actually work) and the last-minutes (which do their work at the last moment possible.) There are a couple of people that are in between this range which, usually most people fall in. Now I on the other hand, am at the brink of being a last-minute, which is dreadfully scary considering the work that needs to be done at this point in the school year. Essays, research, the whole shabang. Okay so, if you read up until this point and are completely oblivious to what I'm talking about- even though I basically told you what this is- this is the definition of procrastinate.
To procrastinate means, to put off something, or to delay/ postpone an action. And if you still don't understand please leave. Yes. Now. Back to what I was saying. Now I procrastinate, who doesn't? But sometimes it's bad. Like I'll make my bed three times just so I don't have to do something. Pathetic yes. But hey you can't control your brain. At least I think not. You know what would be helpful? A list of what to do to stop procrastinating. I'll love you if you blog about this. Anyways, moral of this story don't procrastinate. Well if you do, don't do it for too long.

The beginning of writing literature is the actual worst.
It's hard to write the beginning of a story, paragraph, essay, etc. Well at least for me it is. I always have a hard time writing a beginning to something but what makes it the worst possible thing ever is writing the beginning sentence. I don't understand what about it trips me up- and maybe causes me to procrastinate beyond belief (Sofia don't come for me)- but my brain just does not want to cooperate. Let me give you an example.
Me: Hello thing in my head that literally keeps me functioning like a normal human being, can you please just stop thinking of anything else other than this essay.
Brain: Oh you mean that essay that's due tomorrow? Hilarious because I think not. How about we do something completely irrelevant like make your bed 3 times in order to procrastinate?
Me (because I have no control): That's going to help me. Sure!
See what I mean. Now getting this essay done is going to take some serious brain training and a lot of time. Anyways, if I can get the first sentence done the rest is easy but until then it's like fighting a battle in my head, against my brain in order to work. Fun. Speaking of that essay, this is currently a distraction in order to avoid it. So I better be going. 🎶I'm off to write an essay, a terrible essay at that🎶

It's Complicated
Complicated relationships. The bane of some people's exsistence. No, not with people if that's what you're thinking. This one's with an object not a person. I have a love-hate relationship with school. I love most of my teachers. *cough Some more than others, but there are some people that I cannot stand. Gah! They don't use proper grammar, which is a given for Pete's sake. I mean you're in school. Then they don't even try to get good grades. Listen to their reasoning. "Middle school doesn't matter. It's highschool what counts." Hello are you serious? The way you act now, the way you get things done and organize yourself will carry into highschool. And if you aren't doing well now? Sorry should've tried when you could've. My thought process is if you fall into a hole, when it's raining, it's going to be hard to dig yourself out. And then things will be piling and piling up and you are going to have work twice as hard. Why don't you just walk around the hole?
Now teachers... tsk tsk tsk. What will I do about most of you. The homework isdecent sometimes decent. When every teacher gives a solid 30 minutes of homework, you're basically screwed. We all have things to do after school and 2 hours of homework was not something I was looking forward to, let alone having the time to do it. But it's usually okay. I guess. But to be completely honest, I'll seriously miss every one of them. They were the ones who connected every lesson in my mind, and basically... taught me everything. To make an analogy, they are the mortar in my brick wall of a brain. Not saying I'm simpleminded or anything, I just sort of liked that analogy. So what are your love-hate relationships? It doesn't have to include people by the way. It could be about your stuffed giraffe Jerry for all I care.
Now teachers... tsk tsk tsk. What will I do about most of you. The homework is

RANT TIME
As you could tell by the title, this is going to be a rant post. But not just any rant post, this is something all people STUDENTS and TEACHERS with common sense and a brain want to scream or groan, or show some sort of displeasure when talked about. This is the PARCC test.
PARCC testing is the epitome of the idiocy of standardized testing. People are brilliant in different ways, and the PARCC testing just locks people up, and tests them in things they may not be that talented in. What PARCC stands for is Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers. But what everyone in school knows it as is (and this is by the right definition, I don't know who made that acronym), torture, torture, irrelevant, oh and did I say TORTURE.
This is the definition of torture.
Reading a story that is oh so engaging, and then answering questions where even the answers don't make sense, or if they decide to add extra chocolate sprinkles the PARCC ice cream, the right answer isn't the right answer. That is the logic of PARCC. The answer that makes the most sense and has a high level of thinking involved is wrong, because the answer needs to be dumbed-down and made simple for those that, *cough, aren't at the brain capacity of a normal human being.
In class we were reading essays that were on a PARCC test from the previous years and some of them were scored fairly but OTHERS, others were probably not even read. One of the essays made sense with the fable and was a pretty good length. Yeah they made some mistakes but who doesn't? Anyways that essay got a 2 or 3 from what I remember. Now, there was an essay that was 1 long run-on sentence, that barely made sense, and it got a... FOUR. What the actual heck? HOW, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, HOW? As you can see, the PARCC Test is so irrelevant because it is not graded fairly at all if it's even read. Sopeople, students, teachers, don't stress yourself out, because this test isn't worth it. Maybe if it actually made sense, THEN stress yourself out. But not for this. Plus, I don't think that the people making the test have a brain, or common sense, or a SOUL, or read their own work. You got this. I promise.

A Tribute to my Beautiful Grandmother
Dear Grandma,
You are a shining star, an example of what a grandmother could be, loving, compassionate, determined, beautiful, intelligent, and honest. You have always been there for me.
I will never forget your kind word. Whenever life decides to throw me a couple of curve balls and I start to think negatively about life, you always knew the right things to say. You believe in me. You never doubt my abilities. And everyday you never fail to remind me that one day I'm going to make it and be someone in this world. I wish you were able to live here with us so that everyday I could wake up and spend time with you, but I guess not everyone gets what they want. I love you grandma. Don't change.

I Wish I was Magical, or Cyborg Clones of People Existed.
This week's post is going to be about 3 people- dead or alive- that I would spend an afternoon with. I would choose Alexander Hamilton, Marie Curie, and Gordon Ramsay.
Alexander Hamilton, because I just have so many questions. How a kid that poor could grow into an elitist? Unlike most Americans, why did you base much of your political ideology on the writings of the philosopher, Hume? And a more awkward topic, why did you decide to have an affair? I think we would be to talk for about 30 hours until we pass out. But we don't have that much time, so I think 3 questions should satisfy my curiosity.
Marie Curie, because I want to hear her story from her perspective. I had researched her, and her life was especially interesting, due to the fact that she had to overcome so many obstacles just to get an education. I also think that it would be fun to witness one of her experiments and ask her questions on what she did, and why her experiments work. I would just tell her to not bring radium with her due to the fact that my guests and I would not enjoy the side effects.
Gordon Ramsay, because I want to try his food. He's usually very harsh on his trainees and I would like to see if his food is less than amazing. If it is I would probably use one of his own insults on him. I would also bring him along because of the fact that I wouldn't have to pay for my meal, I mean, he could just make it for me. Alexander Hamilton and Marie Curie would also be delighted (I hope) to try the food of this generation and this could be their chance to do it. (Of course they can't, I'm not magical.)
This would also take place in a restaurant. Gordon would have the materials needed to whip up a delicious meal, Marie would probably have the tools needed to run some sort of experiment (while also telling her story) and Alexander could stretch out, wait for Marie to finish her story, and then start answering my questions. This is actually really sad because I wish that I was actually able to do this. I hope in the future we could make cyborg versions of important people in history.
Let me know in the comments who you would spend an afternoon with.

Field Trips Are More Than Time Away From School
As my title states, field trips are more than time away from school. They are an euphoria after spending time, so much time at school slaving away over work. Now don't get me wrong, sometimes school is fun and engaging but sometimes you'd rather shave a strange old man's dank leg than get out of bed and go to school. Field trips are a necessity, like water. Water is liquid for the human body (obviously), and field trips are... food for the brain. They give you hands on experience with topics you're learning, are though-provoking and help learning experience, and plain fun.
Who doesn't want to go to a museum and touch electricity, or go to camp and hang out with your friends while doing various activities that don't include pencils and paper. If our school took away field trips I'd probably scream internally and then externally. I would become a mock bull. Steam coming out of my ears, my face will flush red, and I would kick things. I would then quite respectfully ask the people responsible to get a brain check, and then I would leave. (But, knowing me I would send a apology letter.) I quite honestly don't need that negativity in my life. I need people who care about students' well being enough to allow field trips.

School is great and I wouldn't trade anything for it. Maybe because my future depends on it but field trips are a necessity to a child's soul and sanity.

Lights, Camera, Action (Review Time)
Guardians of the Galaxy
Here, from the furthest edge of the galaxy, comes the weirdest proposition yet: a superhero gang that includes a talking tree and a wise-cracking raccoon. They're determined to save the world even if they have to rip through some bad guys. Sounds like a typical action movie. Don't get me wrong it is, but there is more to it.
The main character whose name is Peter Quill goes by the alias of Starlord and was abducted from his parents as his mother was dying from cancer by some people who aren't necessarily human. Quill had found himself in possession of a mysterious orb that certain ruthlessly villainous parties would like to have, and this compels him to team up with a ragtag crew of space adventurers whose story takes place in surroundings made to look like classic sci-fi book. There is a huge creature in the shape of a tree called Groot, the enormous musclebound, oddly coloured hombre Drax, a female alien with the off-putting name of Gamora, and Rocket, a cunning little talking raccoon. The witty satire of the cast will make you wan to keep watching to the end and I suggest you go see it if you haven't yet. 9/10

No PANTS, new HAIR, and HALF awards?
Let's take a moment to talk about the Grammy's. The most simplified explanation you could get is that the Grammy's is basically a bunch of Hollywood Elites, gathering together to drink champagne and honor themselves in an awards show. On the other hand, their music is okay depending on who you are talking about. First, our attention goes to Adele. Her voice is amazing, period. You would have to be deaf to refute this statement. Yes, she started over on her tribute to George Micheal but her voice made up for it. Another thing, she gave half of her award to Beyonce. I couldn't even comprehend this act of humility. She made me appreciate her more, honestly. She just showed a lot of love for Queen Bey and rumor has it* Bey cried.
Now let's gather our bearings for long enough to talk about Twenty One Pilots. First words that come to mind are Stressed out, their most popular, overplayed song right? Wrong. First words that should come to mind after the Grammy's is NO PANTS. If you didn't watch the Grammy's, let me fill you in. The people that make up Twenty One Pilots, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, tweeted that they would accept their award from the Grammy's in their UNDERWEAR. Why you ask? Well they had an explanation, a weird one but at least one that is true. They said that they vowed that they would accept their Grammy Award in their underwear, because before they were musicians they would watch the Grammy's in their underwear. Weird right? Well, they stuck with their promise and it actually happened....... Let me show you.
Like I said...
One more thing. I know, I know this is a long post...just stick with me for like 2 more lines. But, did you see Katy Perry's hair? That color looks great on her, and we would know. She's colored her hair every color in the spectrum. The only thing she hasn't done with her hair was shave it off, which she said she was saving for a mental breakdown, which by the way I think is going to happen soon. The way she keeps changing her hair is a sign, don't you think? Anyways that's all I got. And if you want to know more about the Grammy's you should look on YouTube, right after this post. You obviously have a phone and a brain. So shoo.
*see what I did there.
And in honor of it being Valentine's day this week, I present a Gene Wilder meme to offer some company since you were obviously single on Valentine's Day or is that just me?

Hey Trump.... I've got some advice.
As we all know Donald J Trump is the president of the United States. And I've got some advice.
Dear Donald J Trump, President of the United States,
I would like to first congratulate you on your win. I think that you had won over the average American worker by promising radical changes. Now it's time to put your money where your mouth is. I would like to see how you make America great again. Now people on the left* are very opposed to your ideas. Acknowledge them but don't stoop down to their level. They will try their hardest to make you give in. Don't. Do what you can to make America the land of dreams for the middle class. I also advise keeping your allies close. Don't push them away but use them to give you advice, back you up, and even tell you when something isn't right. That being said, keep your enemies closer. Try to create better relations with the countries that have a deep burning hatred for us and our ways.
I hope that you have great plans for the future. If you can find a way to not raise people's ires and have them protest everything you do, please do it. They are blocking traffic. They are so desperate and so mad about your win that they would protest if you said your favorite drink was Pepsi, not Sprite. I also have a saying that you should keep in mind. "You don't lock your doors because you hate the people outside, you lock your doors because you love the people inside." -Tomi Lahren. Make America Great Again!
*People on the left being those who are violently protesting. Not the average Democrat.

I wish
Everyone loves getting gifts. But, not everyone knows what they want. Trust me I never do. Except for now or else this blog post wouldn't exist. If there was a genie that would manipulate someone's mind to give me a gift of my choosing, I would set out on a quest for that genie stopping only to eat food and sleep. But sadly there isn't. *tear But, really what this blog post is about is what gift I would like to receive so.... The gift that I would like to receive is *drumroll a room makeover. Wow, that sounds really girly. No but seriously.
My room is on the smaller side and I want it to look amazing. The color scheme would be monochrome and gold, with little decorations here in there in teal. The walls would probably be white and the floors a black wood sort of thing. I would also get new furniture in black or white and a new bed because I really need the extra storage. *cough *cough. But I would definitely not do this on my own or with my parents. I would hire an interior designer. I mean who doesn't want there room to look like it just stepped out a magazine. With the room I had imagined in my head, Kim Kardashian would be jealous, and she has a walk-in closet the size of my living room. I just want a room that I myself will feel fabulous in. Even though I already am. *slow clap. Sorry that was very self-centered.
Tell me what you guys would get for Christmas if you could have anything. *granted you have a genie.

Why Name, Why?
My first name is Alexandra which is a Greek baby name meaning the defender of men. But why did my parents chose it? There are 2 specific reasons for my name. 1. My grandfather who passed away before I was born was named Alexander and I take it that he was well liked among the family. 2. My mom likes this butterfly named the Queen Alexandra so she had something to contribute to the choosing of my name. Cool and tragic. But if I would be given the opportunity to chose my name I would chose the name Myra. Why Myra you say? It's unique. How many people do you know have the name Myra. Maybe no one. And the name Myra is related to the Latin and Slavic words for "wonder", "peace" and "wonderful." So basically me. (Not to be so self centered but it's true.) But then again I like my name and am happy that my parents didn't name me after a food item (like bacon) or a celebrity that ended up going looney. So be thankful of the name you were given.
This is the Queen Alexandra butterfly, the largest in the world.

Future Career?
If I was forced to pick a job in the school district, kindergarten through 12th grade, I would most likely be a math teacher for grade 7. I would be a math teacher because, according to a personality test I have a math-wired brain. (Okay, that sounds really wierd but bear with me) In the test it said that I think logically and do well in a standard math classroom. I would also pick seventh graders because I feel like 7th graders would be easier to talk to. It also said that I can communicate well with other people so I would be able to explain to the concept to the 7th graders without confusing them. (Well, I probably will confuse them at some point bur at least they would understand something.) And according to other teachers and parents, the teenage years are hard (and I will be experiencing those soon so YAY!) and they (teenagers) don't listen very well so I would rather teach preteens. But I probably won't be a teacher so...

4 days to Turkey Day
I'm currently sitting at my desk at home, hearing the TV buzz on upstairs, deciding on which music to use on my book commercial. I look around and smile internally. I realize how much I have to be thankful for.
Photo Credit: Google Images Idea Credit: http://goinswriter.com/thankful/
A lot of people don't understand gratitude. They don't see how great their life is. A life where they could eat 3 meals a day, a life where they have clothes and a bed to sleep in every night, and a life where they have parents that love them. Not everybody is this fortunate. I understand that now. So today, 4 days before Thanksgiving, I am making a list.
1. I am thankful for my teachers. For waking up early every (school) morning to get to school on time and staying up late to grade papers. They have not only made me a better student but overall a better person.
2. I am thankful for my family, who loves me even if I almost dropped their phone into a boiling pot of soup, or if I had eaten the piece of cake they were saving (and of course planning on eating).
3. I am thankful for my friends, who are there for me all the time and who make me laugh so hard that I collapse on the floor,
4. I am thankful for the technology I have been provided with: making it easier to communicate with family on other continents or friends who have gone on a road trip to California. (and left me behind)
5. I am thankful for the jobs that my parents have. That their jobs provide income and a better life for my brother and I then my parents had. In addition to being able to provide us with the latest fad.
6. I am thankful for soccer, which provides me with a way to stop thinking about that important exam on the next day and a way to socialize with friends.
7. I am thankful for my health, for being able to run the mile every Friday (even if I completely despise running the mile) and for being able to hang out with my friends.
8. I am thankful for books, which provide me with an entertainment that even the latest technology can provide. There is nothing comparable to snuggling up with a good book and a bowl of red seedless grapes.
9. I am thankful for music — bands like UB40 or Modern Talking who take me to the 80s (of course I wan't alive) and also keep me from chewing my fingernails during a stressful situation, They give me a way to let go of reality even if it is just for 3 minutes and 24 seconds.
10. Lastly, I am thankful for my opportunity at life. For being able to show what I can provide the world with and for being able to live to my full potential. I will make the most of it since I only get one shot.

The ASPARAGUS nightmare
If I would to chose one food that I completely despise with a passion it would be the disgusting, green, mini spears people call ASPARAGUS. I cannot understand people that actually like ASPARAGUS. Even the sheer sight of it makes me want to spew out my innards. They don't even taste good and they make your pee smell like you just threw ASPARAGUS into your toilet.
Even when my mom makes it for herself and my dad I can't eat dinner with them because honestly I'd rather gouge out my own eyes rather than eat ASPARAGUS. (Sorry that got a little graphic) Now I know what you're thinking "What did ASPARAGUS do to you?" Now let me tell you that I have good reasoning behind my ASPARAGUS hating.
Okay, so one day we were eating dinner and it included chicken, ASPARAGUS (this was in my pre-ASPARAGUS hating stage), and some sort of carbohydrate. (I can't remember if it was potatoes or rice) So I ate everything like a good little girl who eats her vegetables to grow up big and strong. Now, about 10 minutes after dinner I felt sick, like as if I had just thrown my head against a wall and got a major concussion sick. So I ran into the bathroom and surprise surprise I threw up. And I don't hate ASPARAGUS because I threw up, but I hate it because my barf tasted like ASPARAGUS. What I think of when I see ASPARAGUS is how painful and disgusting throwing up is. I'm pretty sure you don't like every food out there and I don't blame you for it. But if you like ASPARAGUS we can't be friends. I'm sorry. But I'm not going through another scene like that.
You don't even know how much I gagged just to post this meme for you.

Childhood Memories
Ah the old childhood memories. Being a child was awesome; you had no responsibilities, no blame for anything you did, and getting any toy you asked for. Well, more like pleaded and cried for. One of the things that I remember was having a stuffed dog that sang. He was a sheep dog that wore a black top hat and a red bow tie. He would scoot around on the carpet and howl/sing the song "Only You". Honestly, I was afraid of him so it's weird why I liked him. I was specifically terrified to push the power button but whenever he sang I would dance around him and laugh. When he stopped singing I would rush over to my mom and ask her to push the power button again, and again, and again. Until my mom made me push the power button to have the dog sing to get over my fear. So this dog actually helped me get over my fear-of itself-and it was my first act of courage. I would be so proud that I didn't need my mom to power it on until it broke. I was four and also completely devastated until my mom bought my a stuffed bear. I was a kid so any toy could take over the job of entertaining a four year old. This dog taught me a lesson. (Well the dog and my mom.) That getting over your fears is much more satisfying than having someone else conquer them for you.
P.S. I will try to find a picture of this singing, stuffed, top hat bearing, bow tie wearing sheep dog.

Where do I visually perceive myself in 10 years?
Well let's just say that I want to get into college and get a good job but I don't want to be rooted to the spot just working on homework and such. I don't exactly know what I'd like to be in college but honestly I don't want to worry myself mad about it. (But it would probably be something really nerdy like an engineer or a doctor.) I'd like to travel the continental United States with my close friends and just have a good time. In the early twenties you're supposed to have a good time because way too often I hear adults repining about how they wish they were still 20 having a good time with their friends and genuinely being capable of doing physical activities. (No offense to anyone over 20 but you guys aren't as active as you used to be in your prime.) I hope in 10 years that I get my own job which hopefully involves kids- obviously because I love kids- and have my own money to buy myself whatever I desire.
When I try to picture myself 10 years from now a see a carefree, fun, independent, and bold woman. I want to be the person who works towards their goals and strives for the best. I want to be a person that works towards something bigger and works smarter not harder. I know, sounds like something lazy people would say but quite honestly would you rather try to balance on a table to change a light bulb or just simply grab a ladder to change it. Just think about it. Stopping for a moment to think about the situation and run through your options or just jump right in unprepared. I just want to be the person who thinks thing out thoroughly before acting.

I also hope that I get to have my own apartment, dog, (since my parents don't want dogs in their house) and car. (Preferably a Jeep.) I also want to travel to all the capitals of every state in the U.S.A. and take pictures with the most random item in every state. In addition to all of this I want a good job to help me achieve my goals of travel and to just be able to be myself in a world full of negative people.

One of my Favorite Trips
One day, in the summer while I was sitting on the my leather couch in my plaid pajamas, optically canvassing Loony Tunes, and munching on some Vanilla ice cream, my mom burst into the room exclaiming that we were going to take a road trip down to South Carolina for a week. Of course, my brother and I were exhilarated to finally be able to leave the house and to go some where and explore but my dad and grandparents not so much. They really didn't want to leave the house but after some persuading they conclusively agreed. We left the next week after days of frantically packing and planing. We had decided to go to Myrtle Beach, one of South Carolina's famous beaches. The trip was about 2 days long mostly because we had to stop at every gas station due to my brother drinking an extravagant amount of Pepsi. When we arrived at Myrtle Beach we snatched our luggage, ran up to our room on the 16th floor of the hotel, grabbed and changed into our bathing suits, and ran out to the beach.
