4 days to Turkey Day

I'm currently sitting at my desk at home, hearing the TV buzz on upstairs, deciding on which music to use on my book commercial. I look around and smile internally. I realize how much I have to be thankful for.

A lot of people don't understand gratitude. They don't see how great their life is. A life where they could eat 3 meals a day, a life where they have clothes and a bed to sleep in every night, and a life where they have parents that love them. Not everybody is this fortunate. I understand that now. So today, 4 days before Thanksgiving, I am making a list.

1. I am thankful for my teachers. For waking up early every (school) morning to get to school on time and staying up late to grade papers. They have not only made me a better student but overall a better person.

2. I am thankful for my family, who loves me even if I almost dropped their phone into a boiling pot of soup, or if I had eaten the piece of cake they were saving (and of course planning on eating).

3. I am thankful for my friends, who are there for me all the time and who make me laugh so hard that I collapse on the floor,

4. I am thankful for the technology I have been provided with: making it easier to communicate with family on other continents or friends who have gone on a road trip to California. (and left me behind)

5. I am thankful for the jobs that my parents have. That their jobs provide income and a better life for my brother and I then my parents had. In addition to being able to provide us with the latest fad.

6. I am thankful for soccer, which provides me with a way to stop thinking about that important exam on the next day and a way to socialize with friends.

7. I am thankful for my health, for being able to run the mile every Friday (even if I completely despise running the mile) and for being able to hang out with my friends.

8. I am thankful for books, which provide me with an entertainment that even the latest technology can provide. There is nothing comparable to snuggling up with a good book and a bowl of red seedless grapes.

9. I am thankful for music — bands like UB40 or Modern Talking who take me to the 80s (of course I wan't alive) and also keep me from chewing my fingernails during a stressful situation, They give me a way to let go of reality even if it is just for 3 minutes and 24 seconds.

10. Lastly, I am thankful for my opportunity at life. For being able to show what I can provide the world with and for being able to live to my full potential. I will make the most of it since I only get one shot.

The ASPARAGUS nightmare

If I would to chose one food that I completely despise with a passion it would be the disgusting, green, mini spears people call ASPARAGUS. I cannot understand people that actually like ASPARAGUS. Even the sheer sight of it makes me want to spew out my innards. They don't even taste good and they make your pee smell like you just threw ASPARAGUS into your toilet.
Even when my mom makes it for herself and my dad I can't eat dinner with them because honestly I'd rather gouge out my own eyes rather than eat ASPARAGUS. (Sorry that got a little graphic) Now I know what you're thinking "What did ASPARAGUS do to you?" Now let me tell you that I have good reasoning behind my ASPARAGUS hating.
Okay, so one day we were eating dinner and it included chicken, ASPARAGUS (this was in my pre-ASPARAGUS hating stage), and some sort of carbohydrate. (I can't remember if it was potatoes or rice) So I ate everything like a good little girl who eats her vegetables to grow up big and strong. Now, about 10 minutes after dinner I felt sick, like as if I had just thrown my head against a wall and got a major concussion sick. So I ran into the bathroom and surprise surprise I threw up. And I don't hate ASPARAGUS because I threw up, but I hate it because my barf tasted like ASPARAGUS. What I  think of when I see ASPARAGUS is how painful and disgusting throwing up is. I'm pretty sure you don't like every food out there and I don't blame you for it. But if you like ASPARAGUS we can't be friends. I'm sorry. But I'm not going through another scene like that.
You don't even know how much I gagged just to post this meme for you.

Childhood Memories

Ah the old childhood memories. Being a child was awesome; you had no responsibilities, no blame for anything you did, and getting any toy you asked for. Well, more like pleaded and cried for. One of the things that I remember was having a stuffed dog that sang. He was a sheep dog that wore a black top hat and a red bow tie. He would scoot around on the carpet and howl/sing the song "Only You". Honestly, I was afraid of him so it's weird why I liked him. I was specifically terrified to push the power button but whenever he sang I would dance around him and laugh. When he stopped singing I would rush over to my mom and ask her to push the power button again, and again, and again. Until my mom made me push the power button to have the dog sing to get over my fear. So this dog actually helped me get over my fear-of itself-and it was my first act of courage. I would be so proud that I didn't need my mom to power it on until it broke. I was four and also completely devastated until my mom bought my a stuffed bear. I was a kid so any toy could take over the job of entertaining a four year old. This dog taught me a lesson. (Well the dog and my mom.) That getting over your fears is much more satisfying than having someone else conquer them for you.

P.S. I will try to find a picture of this singing, stuffed, top hat bearing, bow tie wearing sheep dog.

Where do I visually perceive myself in 10 years?

Well let's just say that I want to get into college and get a good job but I don't want to be rooted to the spot just working on homework and such. I don't exactly know what I'd like to be in college but honestly I don't want to worry myself mad about it. (But it would probably be something really nerdy like an engineer or a doctor.)  I'd  like to travel the continental United States with my close friends and just have a good time. In the early twenties you're supposed to have a good time because way too often I hear adults repining about how they wish they were still 20 having a good time with their friends and genuinely being capable of doing physical activities. (No offense to anyone over 20 but you guys aren't as active as you used to be in your prime.) I hope in 10 years that I get my own job which hopefully involves kids- obviously because I love kids- and have my own money to buy myself whatever I desire.

When I try to picture myself 10 years from now a see a carefree, fun, independent, and bold woman. I want to be the person who works towards their goals and strives for the best. I want to be a person that works towards something bigger and works smarter not harder. I know, sounds like something lazy people would say but quite honestly would you rather try to balance on a table to change a light bulb or just simply grab a ladder to change it. Just think about it. Stopping for a moment to think about the situation and run through your options or just jump right in unprepared. I just want to be the person who thinks thing out thoroughly before acting.

I also hope that I get to have my own apartment, dog, (since my parents don't want dogs in their house) and car. (Preferably a Jeep.) I also want to travel to all the capitals of every state in the U.S.A. and take pictures with the most random item in every state. In addition to all of this I want a good job to help me achieve my goals of travel and to just be able to be myself in a world full of negative people.

One of my Favorite Trips

One day, in the summer while I was sitting on the my leather couch in my plaid pajamas, optically canvassing Loony Tunes, and munching on some Vanilla ice cream, my mom burst into the room exclaiming that we were going to take a road trip down to South Carolina for a week. Of course, my brother and I were exhilarated to finally be able to leave the house and to go some where and explore but my dad and grandparents not so much. They really didn't want to leave the house but after some persuading they conclusively agreed. We left the next week after days of frantically packing and planing. We had decided to go to Myrtle Beach, one of South Carolina's famous beaches. The trip was about 2 days long mostly because we had to stop at every gas station due to my brother drinking an extravagant amount of Pepsi. When we arrived at Myrtle Beach we snatched our luggage, ran up to our room on the 16th floor of the hotel, grabbed and changed into our bathing suits, and ran out to the beach.

Check Back this Saturday for more of the story!

Quote of the Week

To be entirely honest I actually love this quote and it does kind of relate to me. When I was younger I would always compare myself to other people and strive to be like them but as I got older I realized I would never be just like them but I would just be a better version of me and frankly I am entirely okay with that. Just strive to be a better version of yourself not a copy of someone else, because you then get to see your full potential.
